Lugano, December 11, 2025 - The working day of farmers and agricultural entrepreneurs is changing. Although in the collective imagination these professions are still closely linked to working in the fields, the components of study, research, and administration are becoming increasingly important. xFarm , a company that aims to digitize the agri-food sector, supporting entrepreneurs and making their operations more efficient from an economic, social, and environmental point of view.
The tech company, already a proponent of xFarm, an FMIS (Farm Management Information System) platform for farm management, is now launching xFarm , a feature designed to further lighten the management burden on farmers, freeing up time for field activities.
Technology is the key to simplifying the management of farms, ecosystems that today can only thrive through the effective and efficient use of resources. xFarm is the spearhead of a simplification process that aims to help farmers keep up with their activities, record them, and comply with regulatory requirements," says Matteo Vanotti, CEO of xFarm , engineer, and agricultural entrepreneur himself. This point of view is reflected in the data and opinions of farmers. In fact, according to a recent report by the European Commission's Joint Research Center (JRC) , most farmers attribute a positive impact on sustainability to digital technologies: 76% on the economic level, 72% on the environmental level, and 67% on thesocial level.
In addition to the intense challenges posed by the ongoing climate crisis and international trade tensions, increasing bureaucratization is making the role of operators in the sector even more complex. In fact, despite the slight increase recorded in 2024 (+2.4% of agricultural workers employed, bucking the trend of recent years), Italian agriculture continues to experience alabor shortage, with companies finding it very difficult to recruit the profiles they are looking for (in 44% of cases).
It was precisely this awareness that led to the design ofxFarm , a new virtual assistant basedon artificial intelligence (AI) designed to make one of the most difficult jobs in the world a little easier.
Thanks to this feature, which is directly implemented within the WhatsApp instant messaging system and linked to the xFarm platform, xFarmplatform, farmers will be able to manage the compilation of their activity logs directly by sending a text or voice message, thanks to which the activities will be recorded in their xFarm account. 24/7 support is always available, guiding farmers step by step, including by sending reminders and useful links. Not only that, xFarm will also send alerts about weather, insects, and diseases that may be present in the field, as well as advice on irrigation and, in the future, nutrition.
Among the possibilities offered by xFarm is the ability to collect the information necessary for the QDCA (Digital Farm Logbook), mandatory from January 2027, guiding farmers in its correct completion. A simple and intuitive way to comply with legal requirements without spending too much time on manual compilation.
Finally, there will also be functions dedicated to supply chains, allowing for intuitive monitoring of a complex and sometimes fragmented environment.
Thanks to the digitization offered by xFarm , agriculture is becoming more resilient and farm management more systematic, simple, and fluid. "xFarm allows farmers to operate with peace of mind, knowing they can count on a reliable tool that can assist them in every agronomic decision and in all those administrative aspects that often take them away from their work in the field," concludes Matteo Vanotti.
